MILLIONS OF STREET DOGS IN ROMANIA ARE VICTIMS OF ANIMAL CRUELTY…

AND MOST PEOPLE CHOOSE TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM … NOT BECAUSE THEY’RE AFRAID, BUT BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE STREET DOGS DON’T DESERVE RESPECT.

At ROLDA we refuse to turn our backs on a friend in need. We stand up for our four-legged friends, as we do for those who walk on two. We pick them up from the dumps and the alleys where they are discarded like trash — dogs and puppies tossed aside by irresponsible individuals who lack compassion and humanity.

In 2017, we saved over 1200 animals  (mostly dogs, but also a donkey and some cats) from an inevitably slow and lonely death on the streets.

We’ve made so much progress since opening our doors in 2003. We have built two shelters, sterilized thousands of animals, and provided food and medical care to thousands more. ROLDA has educational campaigns, and we provide support to seniors who cannot afford to properly care for their companion animals.

While we have accomplished a lot, there is so much more we must do…

We need to work towards a permanent solution to the issues of animal abuse and abandonment. We need to educate members of our community, including children, how to become part of the solution. We have to make them understand that animals also feel pain, fear, and joy; and that our own spirits, and our community’s spirit, suffers when we turn a blind eye to animal cruelty.

While you read these lines, please take a moment to reflect. To remember how fortunate we as people truly are, and recognize the power that you have to give a voice to those who cannot speakAnd to act.
